This Dinkytown establishment features good repairs at good prices. I've never met Eddie, but I've always gotten good service at a fair price. If you have a worn out pair of Birkenstocks or any other repairable shoe, take them to Fast Eddies. The cobbler's at Fast Eddies have often repaired shoes that I thought were beyond salvation. Like most shoe repair joints, Fast Eddie's also stocks a broad selection of shoe care products. I always park on the street. Bring some quarters, free parking is hard to find due to the store's proximity to the University.
What a Find

Eddie repaired the soles of my shoes, repaired the inside which had broken down in a favorite pair of boots, replaced a zipper and repaired a dog leash for me.
Eddie's reminds me of what shoe repair stores were like in Brooklyn, NY when I was growing up 50 years ago Turns out people drive across town, and from St Paul because no one can beat them.
I think all prices were fair except for the dog leash. If my puppy gets a hold of that leash again.he's going to have to pay the repair himself or be forced to wear his leash from the dollar store. If he wants to go to the dog park looking like a raggedy mutt, so be it..

I've never been inspired to write an online review, so it might just speak volumes that I want to shower Fast Eddie's with accolades. The dude knows what he's talking about, he's a straight-shooter about what needs to be done with your shoes, the price is right, and I've never had to wait more than 5 business days for a repair. I've taken 3 pairs of shoes to him thus far and one even came back with a complementary shine I didn't expect! After thanking him, he said, "we give the shoes back ready-to-wear" - but they looked so pretty I almost didn't want to wear them.
Fast Eddie is great!

After having another shoe place keep my shoes for 4 months without repairing them I was skeptical to take them elsewhere. However, I am more than impressed with Fast Eddie's. Not only did he fix the one shoe that was broken he was sharp enough to recognize that the other shoe might have the same issue and fixed it as well. Plus getting 2 pairs (4 shoes) of shoes fixed was cheaper than having one shoe fixed at the other place!
This place fixed the heels on my favorite pair of black suede boots in a rush (I was moving out of state in two days). Cost was around $10. The heel was totally gone on one boot and I had started to grind down the sole, so I was expecting to have to chuck them. Nope - I got them back in mint condition. The cobbler was really friendly and likeable in a gruff kind of way. He was very cool about getting my boots done fast, and they were ready when he said they would be. I wish I had found him sooner.
